Puppy Play School-   Emphasis on socialization of the puppy, relationship building with the owner and prevention of common behavior problems. Your puppy will build confidence in greeting other people and other dogs. FLAT BUCKLE COLLAR ONLY.  S.T.A.R. Puppy Certificates for puppies in this class meeting the criteria. Check out this link for information on the AKC STAR Puppy Certificate For puppies 12 weeks to 20 weeks. MONDAYS AT 6:30 (6 weeks) 

Fundamentals for the Family Dog -For the dog/handler team with no previous experience or have taken Puppy Playschool.  Positive reinforcement, learn basic skills like walk with me, sit, down, stay, come. For dogs 5 months and older. Introduction to skills necessary to pass the CGC Canine Good Citizen Program   MONDAYS 7:30 OR TUESDAYS  6:30 (6 weeks) (Tuesdays class FULL)

Conformation - Want to get your dog in the show ring?  You will learn how to achieve that goal in this class. AKC-UKC registered dogs only!. This is a 6 week course to prepare you and your dog to show in the breed ring. Check out this link to AKC CONFORMATION INFORMATION With prior approval from the instructor you may also "drop in" at a rate of $15.00 per night. Drop ins are allowed only by instructor approval prior to class. "dropping in" is intended or people who have taken this class previously and just need to drop in and practice prior to an upcoming event. Anyone is welcome to come watch a class if you wonder what it is all about. TUESDAYS 7:30 (6 weeks)

Intermediate Agility (Beginner’s 2 Agility) Class

This class is designed to be taken after Beginners Agility. The class will help you continue to develop the foundation skills needed to safely have fun with your dog while participating in Agility. Dogs must be at least 1 year old. Must be able to work off leash.

The focus of this class will be:

  • Continued work on Contact obstacles (will be set low for most of the class session)
  • Start line stays
  • Begin basic handling skills (“steering” your dog on course)
  • Develop foundation jumping skills
  • Introduction on how to walk an agility course

Please bring with you to class

  • A crate – you will need to work without your dog at times.
  • Tug toy(s)
  • Small soft treats (lots of them)
  • Good pair of running shoes for you
  • Water for you and your dog

You must have passed the Beginners Agility class to take this class or receive permission from the instructor. Class size will be limited to 8 teams so please sign up early. This class is meant for teams that are still learning and are not yet competing in agility. WEDNESDAYS 6:30 (6 weeks)

Introduction to Agility-This class is for dog and handler teams that want to begin agility training.The goal of this class is to teach the teams basic foundational skills needed to become comfortable handling agility sequences. Jumps and obstacles will be introduced. No dogs under 1 year old.  Prior obedience classes required. Dogs must be able to work off leash. Flat buckle or martingale collars allowed. No choke or prong collars, no tags on collars. Please bring high reward treats or toys to encourage motivation. Wear comfortable running shoes. WEDNESDAYS 7:30 (6 weeks)

SEKC Obedience and Rally Run Thru's- For members only. Two rings will be set up. One for Novice or Open obedience and one for Rally. Ring time will be on a first come first serve basis. The cost is $5.00 per night. Sign up will be available for up to fifteen 6 minute ring time slots in each ring each week. One "instructor" will be available each night to offer tips on exercises. Thursdays 6:30

INTRO TO NOSEWORK -Starts September 9th Nosework is one of the fastest growing sports, and for good reason!  It is a fun sport that taps into your dog's innate abilities. Nosework is for novice and seasoned handlers alike; for the family dog and the competition dog; for young dogs and old dogs; for reactive, unfocused, timid, or boisterous dogs; handlers or dogs with mobility issues.  In short, nosework is for everyone!  In 6 short weeks, your dog will be having fun and confidently searching for their target scent, and you will be well on your way to having all the skills to compete in the sport. This class will offer six working spots, and up to 10 auditing spots.  Both working and auditing spots come with a beginner scent kit. DATES FOR THIS CLASS ARE DIFFERENT THAN THE OTHERS CLASSES LISTED ABOVE- take note of the following: Saturday September 9th - Saturday October 14th.  The classes will be from 9-10am, except for the first one, which is from 8:30-9:30am. Our club has a raw food seminar that morning, so to accommodate that we will start earlier. The final day of class will be a field trip on  October 14th. We will have 6 working spots at $75 for members and $95 for non-members.  We also want to offer 10 auditing spots for $25 for members and $40 for non-members.  Both of these prices include a small beginner kit.  Contact MORGAN VIA EMAIL HERE  (click on the link to send email to Morgan) with any questions regarding this class.
